Pursuant to the Nez Perce Tribal Code Section 3-1-11, the Nez Perce Tribe Fish and Wildlife Commission has the authority to promulgate annual and seasonal hunting and fishing regulations and prescribe the manner and methods which may be used in taking fish and wildlife.  Pursuant to that authority, the Nez Perce Fish and Wildlife Commission adopted the following fishing regulation for the Nez Perce Tribe.

Effective 6PM Wednesday, October 9th through Midnight, October 31st

Columbia River Zone 6 Fishery:  Closure effective 6PM October 9th, 2013.

CRZ6 Platform Hook & Line Fishery:  Closed effective 6PM October 9th, 2013.

Fishing Below Bonneville Remains Closed:  Closed.

Columbia River Zone 6 Fall Commercial Gillnet Fishery
6AM Monday, September 30th through 6PM Thursday, October 3rd

Gear: Gillnets.  There is an 8" minimum mesh size requirement.

Allowable Sales:  Salmon, steelhead, shad, walleye, carp, catfish, bass and yellow perch may be sold or kept for subsistence.  Sturgeon between 43-54 inches fork length in The Dalles and John Day pools may be retained only for subsistence use.  Sturgeon  between 38-54 inches fork length in the Bonneville Pool may also be retained only for subsistence use.  Sales of fish caught during open periods may be sold after the open period.

Sanctuaries: The Spring Creek Hatchery sanctuary will be a 150 foot radius around the hatchery ladder, as well as all standard river mouth and dam sanctuaries for the Nez Perce Tribe shall remain in effect.

Zone 6 Platform and Hook and Line Fishery: Platform Hook and Line fishing remains open for ceremonial, subsistence purposes and commercial fishing.

No Fisheries Downstream of Bonneville: Platform hook & line fishing on the Columbia River downstream of Bonneville Dam remains closed for commercial, ceremonial and subsistence purposes unless otherwise promulgated by the Nez Perce Tribal Executive Committee or the Nez Perce Tribe Fish & Wildlife Commission.

Platform Hook and Line fishing remains open for ceremonial, subsistence purposes and commercial fishing..   Fish harvested after July 27 in the Zone 6 platform hook and line fisheries can only be retained for subsistence purposes.

Platform hook and line fishing on the Columbia River downstream of Bonneville Dam remains closed for commercial, ceremonial and subsistence purposes unless otherwise promulgated by the NPTFWC or the NPTEC.

Zone 6 Platform and Hook and Line Fishery and Fisheries Downstream of Bonneville Columbia River Zone 6 and fisheries downstream of Bonneville platform and hook and line fisheries will be closed for both commercial and subsistence purposes each Sunday and Monday beginning Sunday June 30 through Monday July 29.  Other platform and hook and line regulations remain unchanged. Fish harvested during open fishing periods may be sold at any time even after the open fishing period. Please contact your tribe for details on your tribe's fisheries downstream of Bonneville.
 
Sanctuaries:   All standard river mouth and dam sanctuaries for the Nez Perce Tribe shall remain in effect applicable to hook and line gear.

Salmon and other species except sturgeon may be sold or kept for subsistence
from the platform and hook and line fishery downstream of Bonneville during
times when any tribe has an open fishery during the summer management
period. Fishers are reminded sales may not occur on COE property at
Bonneville dam and that sturgeon may not be retained for any purpose in the
tribal fisheries downstream of Bonneville. Please consult specific
regulations including open fishing times and other rules.

Spring Platform Hook and Line Subsistence & Commercial Fishery

Area:   All of Zone 6
 
Restrictions:   All standard river mouth and dam sanctuaries for the Nez
Perce Tribe shall remain in effect.
 
Gear:   Hoopnets, Dip Nets, and Hook and Line. Previous gear restrictions
are rescinded.
 
Allowable Sales:   Chinook, sockeye, steelhead, shad, walleye, carp,
catfish, bass, and yellow perch may be sold or kept for subsistence. For
only the period between 6:00 AM June 8 and 11:59 PM June 15, sturgeon
between 43-54 inches fork length harvested in The Dalles Pool downstream of
the grain elevator at Rufus may be sold or kept for subsistence.  At other
times and in other areas, sturgeon between 43-54 inches fork length in The
Dalles and John Day pools may be retained only for subsistence use. Sturgeon
between 38-54 inches fork length in the Bonneville Pool may also be retained
only for subsistence use.
 
Note:   Setline fishery may close prior to June 15 if the commercial harvest
guideline is projected to be reached.

Columbia River Zone 6 Commercial Sturgeon Setline Fishery
Effective 6AM May 24 through 6PM June 15

 
Area:   The Dalles Pool downstream of the grain elevator at Rufus, Oregon;
to avoid impacts to sturgeon spawning upstream.
 
Restrictions:   All standard river mouth and dam sanctuaries for the Nez
Perce Tribe shall remain in effect.
 
Gear:   Standard set line gear is required. Hook size must be 9/0 or larger.
Fishers are encouraged to use circle hooks and avoid J-Hooks.
 
Allowable Sales:   Sales are restricted to Sturgeon only. Sturgeon between
43-54 inches fork length may be sold or retained for subsistence use.  
Sturgeon between 38-54 inches fork length in the Bonneville pool may also be
sold or retained for subsistence use.  Sturgeon must be delivered to the
buyer "in the round", with fins, guts, scutes, and gills intact.   Eggs may
not be sold if removed from the sturgeon prior to delivery.
 
Note: 
  Setline fishery may close prior to June 15 if the commercial harvest
guideline is projected to be reached.
 
Hook and Line Fishery
Hook and line fishing is allowed with lightweight gear to avoid adult salmon
under the following rules:
 
Dates:  These special rules in effect until 11:59 PM June 15. After June 15
time normal platform and hook and line regulations will be in effect.
 
Area:   All of Zone 6
 
Sanctuaries:   All standard river mouth and dam sanctuaries for the Nez
Perce Tribe shall remain in effect. applicable to hook and line gear.
 
Gear Restriction: Hook size of #6 or smaller required.  Line weight of 12 lb
test or lighter required.
Species: No sturgeon or adult spring chinook may be retained. All other
species may be retained. Shad may be sold.
 
Zone 6 platform Fishery in the Mainstem Columbia River
Columbia River Zone 6 platform fisheries and fisheries downstream of
Bonneville remain closed at this time.

Pursuant to the Nez Perce Tribal Code Section 3-1-11, the Nez Perce Tribe Fish and Wildlife Commission has the authority to promulgate annual and seasonal hunting and fishing regulations and prescribe the manner and methods which may be used in taking fish and wildlife.  Pursuant to that authority, the Nez Perce Fish and Wildlife Commission adopted the following fishing regulation for the Nez Perce Tribe.

  7AM to 7PM, Fridays through Mondays*


 

Area:  East side of the falls east of the horseshoe, Willamette Falls, Oregon

Date of Opening:  June 9 through July 31, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Fridays through Mondays *or as opportunity allows when flashboards are installed.  Contact the Nez Perce Tribe Fish and Wildlife Commission or the Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission for information on flashboard activity.

Gear:  Hand or hand-powered tools only.

Bag Limit:  No daily or seasonal bag limit.

NO SALES OF LAMPREY/EELS AND USE OF LAMPREY/EELS AS BAIT IS PROHIBITED.

This regulation notice serves a permit for Nez Perce fishers; however, you will need a copy of this regulation while fishing for lamprey/eels at Willamette Falls as well as your enrollment identification card.  You can request a copy of this regulation/permit by contacting the NPTFWC or Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fisheries Enforcement offices.  A written or verbal harvest report must be provided to the NPTFWC no later than 4PM August 4, 2014.

Nez Perce Tribal fishers shall comply with all sections of the Nez Perce Tribal Code and regulations pertaining to this fishery.
