Pursuant to the Nez Perce Tribal Code Section 3-1-11, the Nez Perce Tribe Fish and Wildlife Commission has the authority to promulgate annual and seasonal hunting and fishing regulations and prescribe the manner and methods which may be used in taking fish and wildlife.  Pursuant to that authority, the Nez Perce Fish and Wildlife Commission adopted the following fishing regulation for the Nez Perce Tribe.

2015 Commercial Sturgeon Setline Fishing Season Opening
The Dalles Pool - Effective 6AM November 16th through 6PM November 25th

  Bonneville Pool - Effective 6AM November 27th through 6PM December 31st


 

GEAR REGULATION:  Setlines with 9/0 or larger hooks.

ALLOWABLE SALES:  The Dalles Pool – Sturgeon between 43-54 inches fork length, and the Bonneville Pool – Sturgeon between 38-54 inches fork length may be sold or kept for subsistence purposes during open periods for those pools.  Sturgeon landed during open commercial periods and caught in areas open to setline gear are allowed to be sold after the open period concludes.


Sanctuaries:   All standard river mouth and dam sanctuaries relevant to the Nez Perce Tribe remain in effect for this fishery.


Zone 6 Platform and Hook and Line: Sturgeon within the legal size limits and caught in platform and hook and line fishery may be sold if caught during the open commercial period and open areas of the setline fishery.  Platform and hook and line commercial fishery also includes salmon and steelhead.

Sanctuaries:   All standard river mouth and dam sanctuaries relevant to the Nez Perce Tribe remain in effect for this fishery.

The 2015 Commercial harvest guidelines is 1,100 for the Bonneville Pool.  The fishery in the Bonneville Pool will be closed earlier if the commercial

harvest guideline is met in that pool.

Willamette Falls Lamprey Fishery Opening
Effective 7AM
June 15th through 7PM July 31st, 2015

 

AREA:  East side of the falls east of the horseshoe, Willamette Falls, Oregon

FISHING SEASON LENGTH:   June 15 through July 31.  7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Fridays through Mondays, or as opportunity allows when flashboards are installed.  Contact the Nez Perce Tribe Fish and Wildlife Commission or the Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission for information on flashboard activity.

GEAR:  Hand or hand-powered tools only.

BAG LIMIT:  No daily or seasonal bag limit.

REPORT REQUIRED:  A verbal or written report must be submitted to the NPTFWC at 208-843-9376 by 4:00 p.m. August 5, 2015.

THIS REGULATION NOTICE ALSO SERVES AS A LAMPREY FISHING PERMIT FOR NEZ PERCE FISHERS.  Fishers are required to have a copy of this regulation/permit while fishing for lamprey eels at Willamette Falls.  Copies can be obtained on the Nez Perce Tribal web site at www.nezperce.org or by contacting the NPTFWC office.

Nez Perce fishers shall comply with all sections of the Nez Perce Tribal Code and fishing regulations pertaining to this fishery.  Not complying with these regulations may be cause for civil or criminal penalties per the Tribal Code or NPT fishing regulations.  If you have fishing enforcement concerns, please contact Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fisheries Enforcement at 541-386-6363.
